My husband and I just ate at Tony's Tacos Authentic Mexican Food on Main St. In Heber City, Utah. It was our first time eating there. You can park on the street or in back. There are entrances in front, on the side, and in the back. Their food was absolutely delicious! We had a chile relleno, enchiladas, a tamale, a huge side of guacamole & chips, yummy salsa (not spicy hot), rice and beans, a small salad, and took home a huge tres leche. They offered a selection of hot and spicy goodies, but we didn't try them. The menu offered a wonderful selection of foods. I just wish I'd remembered to take photos. The helpings were very generous and the prices were fair. We will definitely be back again in the future. The staff was very helpful and pleasant. It is not a fancy restaurant, but it was clean and the food was what we went there for. We were not disappointed in any way. We brought our left-overs home to enjoy later.

Only negative was first impression and worn/modest decor in an old building. But I came for the food. Found the "front" door is actually on the north side, along with most of the parking. I'm a huge fan of Tarahumara and make yearly pilgrimages on bicycle from Utah Valley just to eat there and bask in the salsa bar and fresh-baked pastries. However, on this trip to Midway with my hungry family, we took a gamble on Yelp's good reviews of Tony's Tacos and it paid off. I probably saved over $40 going here instead of Tarahumara. $13.95 for a pork carnitas taco at Tarahumara. 99 cents at Tony's. Hrmmm, what to do... I was spoiled on great, authentic homemade Mexican food in Texas and California. So it's hard for a Mexican place to please me. This place hits most of my hot buttons except for a free salsa bar. They used real Mexican cheese (farmer or cotija) on the beans and nachos when I asked for it. The street tacos were a street price (99 cents! I can get full for about 3 bucks!). Served with onions and cilantro on the side if you ask for it that way. Pastor, asada, pollo and carnitas; they had all my favorites, seasoned just right, served with a slice of lime on little house-made corn tortillas. We had our glasses and a pitcher of ice water within a minute or two, and the food just a few minutes later. Waitress was patient as we fumbled through our choices from the unfamiliar menu, and very pleasant as she served us. My son ordered an horchata which he found a bit watery, but delighted in the huge tall glass in which it was served. Thinking we'd all eat 3 or 4 tacos, I ordered four of each. Along with a side of rice and beans was more than enough to feed my family of seven. But I made the pleasant mistake of ordering a plate of super nachos ($5.75). Perfection,Tony's even served the carne asada nachos with fresh slices of Avocado and crema drizzled over the top, which practically nobody does in Utah without charging you $2 more. Just an awesome value and fabulous find for the budget-conscious.

I love Tony's Tacos. We moved to Heber in June of 2014 and found this place immediately. I agree with many of the other reviewers that when you compare this place to Tarahumara, that you get much more for less money and the food is much better at Tony's tacos. My kids like the nachos and burritos, my wife and I and our oldest child know that their tacos are outstanding. We order a variety and share them. They flavor is amazing and you will not be disappointed with any of their tacos. I personally like the carnitas and pastor tacos best. I also love supporting a family business and seeing many of the family members work is awesome. If there is a knock on Tony's, the service is a little slow when it gets busy. I'm patient because I've been there enough, but I can see a first time visitor getting frustrated. They also seem to really skimp on the chips and salsa and it is difficult to get a refill on those, especially when it is busy. Honestly, the quality of the food makes up for those deficiencies, but it is something I would like to see them improve upon.

Love, love! Horchata is the best! Beans are truly awesome, the only reason for a 4 star is the service. They try and want to service everyone, however every time we go its a stretched staff. The food has always been great!

Tony's Tacos is hands down the best place to get Mexican food. Most of there tacos are a buck but I actually order the "shredded beef" tacos for like a $1.25 and they are SOOO GOOOOOD! Tony is in the back making them everyday and they always taste great. I would recommend trying the tacos (shredded beef and asada) your first time as well as the freshly made horchata. Then try the Shredded beef burrito and put on there homemade hot sauce and verde sauce (served in squeeze bottles) and you will be living la vida loca my friend. Yum :)

Authentic Mexican food at great prices. Fast and friendly service and the food is great if you like more authentic Mexican. We live here in Heber and we go quite often. I'd say our first choice for Mexican food here and there are several places to choose from.

Great quality food reasonable prices. If you are in Heber City UT stop in some of the best Mexican I have had.

Tony's is awesome! Loooove it! I wouldn't say Tony's is the best in the Heber Valley ONLY because Heber Valley has three amazing Mexican restaurants in it. Each is different and I could never decide which is my favorite.

One of the few places we've eaten at that I haven't Yelped in advance, but we were not disappointed. We had an early lunch so were the only patrons for awhile, but took it as a good sign that construction workers and Latinos started filling the place by the time we were packing up. Favorite part: BEST RICE AND BEANS that I've had in Utah so far. (As a CA native, authentic Mexican food has mostly been a disappointment here aside from the occasional burrito joint or Red Iguana, which is a totally different type of food.) The main dishes can be good, but if the rice and beans aren't up to par, it's hard to not write off a place. Tony's Tacos wins. Big time. When I couldn't decide between the carne asada and the carnitas, the waitress recommended the asada and asked if I wanted onions with it (I did.) The meat was served differently than I've ever had it - diced up pieces of beef on a sizzling skillet - but the flavor was good (no weird grisly pieces like you sometimes find) and the portion was huge. Not the best carne asada I've ever had but it was solid and I enjoyed it. Served with generous side of those magical rice and beans, avocado slices, some shredded lettuce (basic but fresh), and the other total plus of the restaurant: house-made tortillas. The flour ones were beautiful and I wish I'd ordered more to take home with my leftovers. My husband's chicken enchiladas were very tasty as well, though we wondered at the limited choices (chicken or cheese). The red sauce was surprisingly good, and again, the rice and beans!! Got a chicken taco for our toddler, and it was standard but a huge portion of diced-up meat on a hand-made corn tortilla. Prices are totally reasonable - we got out of there for less than $20 and a big box of leftovers. We also really liked the fresh salsa served with the chips, and the bottles of salsas/sauces they brought out with the food - a spicy verde and a smoky chipotle one. It looks a bit dingy and in need of some updating, but we found the restaurant clean and were happy with the authenticity - it made us overlook the worn-out dining room. Plenty of high chairs and seating. Good selection of bottled Mexican cokes and Jaritos, and some desserts. The service was polite and fast - you can order at the counter or at your table, and though it was a bit confusing how we should pay our bill, we ended up paying at the counter, too. Don't forget to tip! We definitely will make the trek back here from Salt Lake, even just for a big plate of the rice and beans and the tortillas!! Excited to try more of the dishes too.

We enjoyed our dinner. The service was excellent, the food was fantastic. Fresh hand made tortillas were perfect with my carne asada plate. My wife loved her nachos. We will definitely be back.

Tony's has come along way from the tiny taco shop further up on main st. The food was great. I enjoyed the Carne Asada tacos. They make all their own tortilla from scratch and that makes a big difference! Get the corn tortillas, you won't be disappointed. Everything seemed great, very authentic and very delicious!

Hello this is a review of a overall experience that I had in Tony's recently the food is Great is a 4 start but the service is just horrible is the worst there are dirty plates every where you have to bus your own tables! The cashier/sever is young so she has no experience at all, we waited for at least a hour so I went and ask about our food, just to find out that they never sent the ticket to the cook! So they never apologize or anything we demand or money back so if you are in a hurry do not go to Tony's tacos but if you have at least 2 hours to spend in order to eat, this is the place to go!

We read the YELP reviews and went and we were disappointed. The place is nice and clean. Server was sweet. Nothing special chips and bad salsa. Our dinners were pretty flavorless. Not cheering for this one.

FISH TACOS such a bad idea. They were super fishy tasting and horribly made. They were disgusting. I couldn't even eat the second one. Mistake ordering fish tacos in heber. The beef tacos were just as bad though. Not worth going. I have no idea how some people give them good reviews?

Absolute best Mexican I have ever had. The burritos are amazing and large. Highly recommend!

Best Mexican food in Heber City! Don't waste your time at the trendy Tarahumara in Midway, it doesn't hold a candle to this place. The Carne asada Tacos are the best.

My buddy suggested I try out there 99 cent tacos. Its his favorite lunch place. I tried them and I'd have to say they were fantastic! I had the fish tacos (which are 2 for 2.99) still a great deal and the carne asada 99 cent taco. They were both excellent. They give you 2 tortillas and stuff each taco with enough to fill both. So really you are eating 6 tacos. I'd say you'd be hard pressed to find a better deal in town for the good tasting tacos.

Acceptable Mexican food. Since everything else is closed. Tacos are a bit sub-average and too salty. They also tend to put an extreme amount of onions, so be sure to ask. One excellent piece was the guacamole. Better than El Torito, just a bit small. Place is a bit dirty at the end if day, but can't say anything about the kitchen. All in all this is one of the few choices around.

As ratings should, the 5 stars takes into account what this place is supposed to be - it's a street taco joint. If you want upscale nouveau mexican or whatever the crap, don't go here. If you want $.99 tacos all day every day this is your spot. You can get three tacos and two beers for under $10 and it's a stones throw from Park City where you can't order chips for less than that. Specifics: - Carne Asada tacos are my go-to. Excellent. - The homemade sauces are excellent. I stole one. Seriously. - The nachos are amazing.. and I'm not usually the type to order nachos. - Beers are under $3. Three dollars. As in less than.

Best taco's in the Wasatch Back.

That's more like it - after a failed attempt at a Mexican restaurant I hit this no frills place - quick order and follow on service - food was good - my pastor taco actually had pineapple in it - something I strangely find hard to get in Utah - this place isn't fancy but it is inexpensive and tasty - salsa was pretty hot and was quite good

One of my favorites. Prices are competitive for the area. Food and atmosphere very authentic. For what it is, service is great. Easy five stars

Fresh clean simple food. Always consistent. Staff is so so helpful and friendly. Can not beat deal. No frills but hands down best grub in Heber.

You know what, this place is pretty good. It's in an old house on Heber's main street, I've met the owners and they're both very conscious people of what they want to do and the place is generally pretty clean. Its A-OK with me. So many mexican food restaurants miss the boat in the flavoring department. These guys seem to know how to throw a spice or two in that makes their food taste pretty good. The price is right as well. I am not in love, but If I wanted mexican food I'd definitely turn the tires towards tony's tacos. Hey, that was like, 6 t's in a row. Tony's food is way better than my wording, lets put it that way.

We were in need of a little snack between an early lunch and dinner! This hit the spot. The $.99 tacos were delicious. The red sauce they bring to the table was fantastic.

Are you kidding me! I can't imagine ever eating there again. Old chips and all there salsas taste bad. The meat on all three types of tacos were not fresh. Prices are also higher that indicated on their website. Service was also a little rude when they insisted I ordered something when I did not.

This place is great. We had the nachos and a torta with carne asada. The nachos looked fairly bland when they came out, but they were really tasty. The torta was good, however, it seemed skimpy as far as the meat goes. It was pretty slow to get our meal, but they were pretty busy on a Friday evening. Pretty good Mexican food in Heber.

Saturday afternoon visit. Really DIRTY inside and out. Food is blah and BBQ pork tasted old and greasy. Hardly any fish on fish taco. Iceberg lettuce and super yucky salsa offerings. Only good thing was fresh avocado on nachos. Pass this place by. These folks just don't care any more. The owners need to wake up!

Been frequenting Tony's for 3 years. It's a mom and pop spot so it's staffed by family and friends. Food is authentic, consistent, and great! It's not a high class restaraunt in LA, it's a taco shop in Heber that offers a lot more than tacos. Make it a regular stop, you won't be disappointed.

We so wanted to love this place. It looks great and you can tell someone is really trying. The staff was super friendly and nice. But, wow, the food was just not very good. We had fish tacos and chicken quesadilla - neither was very appetizing, same with rice and beans. Maybe we hit a bad night or bad items. Restaurant was doing a nice business. But for us the food just wasn't at appealing. Sorry.

I am giving this 5 stars in the Mom and Pop Mexican category. Tortillas: sign out front says "Hand Made Tortillas" so I had to check this out. Can you believe it -- no exaggeration -- these were the best flour tortillas I have ever had in my life. Paper thin, perfectly charred, did not taste like raw flour like most, did not get soggy easily or tear, nice chew, held stuff very well. Wow, I can't get them out of my mind. They were like a super thin Indian naan, if you can imagine that. I have had lots of Mexican/Texican food in my life, and the best tortillas are in Heber City, UT? Wow. Chips: a bit on the thick side. Salsa: could be better but ok, a bit watery. Chile Relleno: quite good, very satisfying, would order it again. Beans and Rice: solid, good, tasty, the real deal without being messed with. Half liter Mexican bottled Coke: booyah, that's what I'm squawkin' about. Decor: very laid back, could use a bit more elbow grease in the cleaning department, but nice little place just the same. Service: attentive and cordial. Prices: very cheap. I must try the tacos next time, and other stuff, but TRY THE TORTILLAS FOLKS.

This is the place!!! Since relocating from Las Vegas to Salt Lake City I have been looking for a good taco joint and I had to go to Heber City to find it. The soft tacos with the steak are money, I usually prefer ground beef in my tacos and Tony's ground beef tacos are better than anything that I have found in Salt Lake but the steak tacos were the best. Dine in or take out, it's up to you but the food is very good. My wife tried the crispy hard shell tacos which she loved even though she is not the taco fan that I am. The only problem that I have is that Tony's is in Heber City and I am not sure how many times that I can make the trip before my wife comes unglued about me driving that far just to get a taco. Where will you find me next .......................... only the shadow knows!!!!

PPs chile rellenos was inedible and promptly sent back. Anthony was friendly. Carne asada was dry and tough. Chile Verde burrito was ample and delicious. Service was inattentive, probably because they were understaffed. Water was cold, refreshing, and scarce.

We love the food here! Tacos are best in town and cheap. We've been going to Tony's since first location-great family owned restaurant

Chili verde burrito was scrumptious and ginormous. Get the chips and salsa. You won't regret it.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
